If you’re staying in Tamraght, you’re closer to good surf than almost anywhere else in Morocco. Within a 15-minute drive you’ve got beach breaks for total beginners and reef breaks that’ll test an intermediate. Here’s where our instructors actually take guests, and why.
1. Devil’s Rock
A punchy, fast right-hander that works best on a mid-tide. It’s not for a first-timer, but if you’ve got a few sessions under your belt, this is where the Circle gets exciting.
2. Banana Beach
The friendliest wave on this list. Soft, forgiving, sandy bottom — this is where most surf beginners on our retreats catch their first real wave.
3. Panorama Point
A longer, mellower right that’s great for building confidence once you’re past the absolute basics. Fewer crowds than the beach breaks closer to Taghazout.
4. Taghazout Bay
A short drive north, with more consistent swell exposure. Good for intermediate surfers wanting a slightly bigger, more powerful wave than Tamraght’s home breaks.
5. Anchor Point
The classic, world-class right-hander Taghazout is famous for. Best left to confident intermediates and above — but worth a look even if you’re just watching from the rocks.
When to go
Morocco’s surf season runs nearly year-round, but autumn through spring (roughly September to April) brings the most consistent swell and offshore winds.
Every one of these breaks (and a few more) is part of what our surf coaches build each day’s session around during the Surf Circle — no need to figure out tides and conditions yourself, we already have.
